LA MESA, San Diego County — City residents can trace La Mesa’s climate commitments through two 2026 City Council progress reviews posted to its official Climate Action Plan page.
The city lists progress report presentations dated January 27 and July 28, 2026. The reviews are part of a process established by a 2022 council resolution asking for roughly six-month updates rather than treating climate goals as a one-time declaration.
What the plan addresses
La Mesa’s climate program covers energy use, transportation, solid waste, water and green infrastructure. The city adopted a major update to its original 2018 Climate Action Plan in November 2024, with implementation planning aligned to the budget process for FY2026–27 and objectives extending to 2035 and 2045.
Residents interested in concrete spending, neighborhood improvements or measurable environmental outcomes should consult the staff presentations and underlying documents: the existence of a progress report does not mean each goal has already been met. The city’s public page links to agendas, presentation slides and meeting recordings for residents who want to compare successive reviews.
The city also describes partnerships with regional agencies and public-service fellows as mechanisms for implementing sustainability programs. Its published priorities include how to reduce emissions from building energy, transport and waste while keeping public participation and neighborhood impacts in view.
